yOya is the project of longtime songwriting partners Alex Pfender and Noah Dietterich. Natives of Corvallis, Ore. and friends since the fifth grade, Pfender and Dietterich grew up to the sound of rain in the fir trees and 'Graceland' on cassette. When the duo moved to California to study music they found themselves semi-consciously absorbing the electronic sounds of the LA scene. What emerged was yOya's unique mix of folk-hearted songs, intricate vocal harmony, gritty synths, and thundering electronic beats. With a full-length album, an EP, and several singles to their name, yOya has toured extensively through the United States, sharing stages with Big Thief, Moses Sumney, Bleachers, Phox, Dawes, RJD2, Avi Buffalo, and many others. They have also made appearances at SXSW and CMJ Music Marathon. The band is currently recording new music to be released later in 2017.
Newcomer Steven Colyer is a triple threat: A singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist who is poised to break out with his edgy raw sound. A silver vocal, a brave rocknroll tone and a dynamic R&B groove is the best way to describe Colyer. Each hit, pushing on the last until the wheels fall off the driving anthem "Out For You.” Born in the South, raised in the Midwest and now in Los Angeles, Colyer has been ambitiously moonlighting for his debut release. "I've kept my writing and recording process solo for a while, now. It's the only way I can feel like I'm completely authentic in what I put out," Colyer says. I've spent years working on my sound and it's time now. It's all happening."
