The Singles
The Singles
The Singles were formed in 1999 by founding members Vince Frederick (guitar/vocals), Dave Knepp (drums), Dave Lawson (bass), and Will Yates (lead guitar) during the Detroit garage-rock explosion of the late 90s and early 00s. They made a name for themselves almost immediately in the Detroit club scene, eschewing the fuzz du jour for a more vintage sound reminiscent of early rock pioneers such as Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry and The Everly Brothers as well as the 1960s girl groups of their home town. In 2002 they were courted by the NewYork-based psych-pop label, Rainbow Quartz Records. They then hit the studio with Detroit producer Jim Diamond and released their first full-length album, “Better Than Before,” in 2003. The album received positive press at home and abroad, launching tours in both Europe and Japan. Returning to the studio, the band stripped down to a 3-piece that featured Brian Thunders on drums and John Hale on bass. They cut their follow-up album “Start Again” in 2006, once again with Diamond at the controls, and self released under the label name “Sound Artifacts Music.” Frederick and Thunders carried on touring and releasing a smattering of singles with a rotating cast of bass players until 2009 when Thunders left and Frederick decided to move the band to Los Angeles. After reconnecting with fellow Detroit transplant Jenny Pirch to release the singles “Tomorrow I'll Be Blue” and “All That I Wanted Was You,” Vince was introduced to her former bandmate Nicky Veltman (drums) from Motor City garage rockers The Gore Gore Girls. With friends stepping in on bass, they began playing locally and found themselves back in the studio again, this time with producer Rick Parker. The Singles released “Look How Fast A Heart Can Break” on April 1st, 2014 to critic’s praise in both the US and Europe. Neil Hussy at Shindig Magazine UK, said the album was filled with “perfectly formed pop jewels.” Popmatters said, “The Singles excel in American power pop, all crunchy chords, catchy melodies and killer harmonies.” And USA Today said, “If you need a rock ’n’ roll release… I think I have the perfect song.” referring to lead off single ‘Inamorata’. The album, and songs from it, have broken into the top 20 on national indie radio charts. Since the release, the band has toured the US extensively, playing 100 shows in the first year alone. Gigs have included Southern California festivals and support for national touring acts Brody Dalle, Bass Drum of Death, Holly Golightly, and The Weeks. Now with Max Goldman (bass), The Singles jumped back into the studio with Rick Parker and finished their fourth full-length LP entitled “Sweet Tooth.” The album will be released later this year.
Tommy Chiffon Band
The Plexikill
The Plexikill’s sound is tried and true; straightforward melodic punk rock - PERIOD. You can hear their influences from past legends, such as The Jam, Stiff Little Fingers and The Buzzcocks, while also incorporating catchy hooks heard from newer acts like The Queers. In the past, guitarist and lead vocalist Alfredo Gonzalez fronted the band Madcap. With Madcap, he toured the US many times over, opening up for bands like The Bouncing Souls, Flogging Molly, One Man Army, and countless other headlining bands on the Vans Warped Tour. Gonzalez also sold a respectable amount of records on indie giants Side One Dummy and Victory Records. Fallen-Angel recruited The Plexikill just shortly after they formed in 2009 and looks forward to their debut release on the label. The goal of this band is much the same as his former band, described by Gonzalez as being able “to deliver a great live show, all the time, every time and keep touring relentlessly.” The Plexikill recorded TakingThe Hard Way Back Home in the spring of 2010 with world-renowned producer Donnell Cameron (NOFX, Bad Religion, Rancid) at Westbeach Recorders in Hollywood, CA. Recorded and mixed entirely on analog machines and without the aid of digital enhancement, their debut self-titled release sounds sonically amazing, to say the least. They are even said to be “one of the best punk rock bands to come out of Westbeach Recorders and Eagle Rock,” according to Pete Finestone, drummer of Bad Religion from 1981-1991. TakingThe Hard Way Back Home will be released on limited color vinyl this fall.
Tiger Tank
The Point - Los Angeles’ high octane rockers TIGER TANK is a spectacle of good times Punk n’ Roll !!! The band name was taken from the Muddy Waters/Willie Dixon blues rocking classic “Tiger In Your Tank”, in the same way their heroes, the Rolling Stones got their band name. The band just hit the road on their first SXSW tour, which included playing Burger Records big SXSW festival – Wienermania III to a capacity audience of blown away spectators, as TT had come out of nowhere to ROCK. They'll kick things off with a record release show (TBD) for their new, debut album (out JUNE 2017 on Burger Records) and will spend a solid three weeks on the road in North America, including parts of Canada and Mexico, promoting the album. Tiger Tank is also seeking to tour Australia, South America, Europe, and Japan after this release. Tiger Tank is on a mission to find Brian Jones’ murderer…. Relevant Information This album is being co-released by Burger Records with Iron Fox Records (Bo Toxic’s label) alongside Burger’s sister label Wiener Records. The band originally released a raw-powered, garage demo tape with Wiener Records and it completely sold out in three weeks. The original band name “Tiger In Your Tank” did not fit across the spine of the cassette J-card, and so the name “TIGER TANK” was created. As a thank you to Lee Rickard (Co-Owner of Burger and Wiener Records), TT insisted on adding the Wiener Records logo to the jacket as a thank you for all the help the label did to promote and network the band. It’s the first ever Wiener Records vinyl. The lead singer Raf Classic is formally a member of Miami punk band legends - THE CRUMBS, who had albums on Lookout! Records (Berkeley), TKO Records (Huntington Beach/Portland), and other indie labels, releasing a total of 12 records in the Crumbs complete catalog. Bo Toxic (Eugene) and Tito were both featured on the last Crumbs record “Gator Kicks” (Livid Records, Miami). Tito is also a member of San Diego band - Cruz Radical. Rico Villanueva is a member of Los Angeles punk bands Clit 45 and the Green Machines. Amy Bubblegum has mysteriously disappeared…. Short Band Bio TIGER TANK came to life in the summer of 2015, drawing from the members' shared love for all things loud, fast, and wild. Bo Toxic formed the band in Compton, CA with his long-time friend Raf Classic (they met in Miami, FL as children, both were rebellious and fond of the Ramones, creating an instant, life-long, rock and roll kinship). They've shared stages with the likes of Death Valley Girls, the Sloths, Kepi Ghoulie, the Mr. T Experience, the Cosmonauts, and Crocodiles. Their debut LP, TIGER TANK, is their most focused and furious material yet!
